  1. whats the best defence to run

  2. I rock the 4-2-5 playbook but do several different things out of it and use the nickel, dime and quarter packages. The play "crash 2" out of the 4-2-5 is a very good blitz. Control the DE opposite of the blitzing SS and speed rush to force the QB into the blitzing SS. I have to say that the quarters d is my base defense- Pinch your d line and hot route your ends to contain if they are not already. You will be surprised how well these ends play the pass and the run with this contain technique. Show blitz on every quarters defense u run, this will usually get 8 or even 9 guys in the box depending on the offensive formation. Out of quarters I run man 3 deep, cov 3 and cov 4. I also like to run "double Z" and user blitz the safety that was originally doubling the Z. The key to my defense is speed, look for teams with tall and fast corners, make sure four of your corners can play if you want to run a successful quarters defense. After corners, look for fast, hard hitting safeties, fast speed rushing ends, and a good fast MLB. OHIO STATE, USC, and FSU are good examples of teams with these specifications. This speed allows you to run more man and cover more ground in a shorter period of time. Speed kills in this game! When running man user a safety and try to take away crossing routes. When playing zone, I like to control a blitzer or a DE, if you get to the QB, you will force turnovers. As far as the Gameplan goes use aggressive for your dline, big hits, and mix up the aggressive and normal zone coverages based on down and distance. It is good to use aggressive zone coverage when you are blitzing and it is very good to stop the run. I also like to use the conservative swat on the goal line and on 3rd and longs to keep the chains from moving. Avoid using strip ball, the facemasking is ridiculous. Try to use conservative option defense, make your opponent's Qb keep the ball and hit stick the shit out of him; this will cause turnovers/injury. Any more questions or details let me know bro, thanks for posting, tell your friends.

  3. hey mrCraw 12.. how do you stop the screen pass that people run out of wild cat? this dude ws killing me with that play!!

  4. I think you are referring to "z screen" out of gator heavy. This play can be difficult to stop at times, but it is fairly easy to stop. I like to run man if i think a screen is coming, your CB will follow the WR in motion and should make a decent effort to not get blocked by the O-line. User the screen side DE and try to get between the WR and the near sideline and make the tackle or at least make the WR turn in up inside towards the rest of your defense. With this technique you should tackle the WR about 5 or 6 yards behind the line of scrimmage, or you will force the QB to go elsewhere with the ball which will lead to a sack or a turnover. Remember on screens 3 or 4 linemen are pulling out to block, thus the Qb has little time to make a decision before getting sacked. When controlling your DE try not to go for the pick, just let the WR catch the ball, then pown his ass for a loss. After your opponent suffers a few big losses on this play, he will not run it again.

  5. How do i stop georgia tech's triple option?

  6. This option attack can be frustating at times but can easily be stopped with patience and good user play. I like to run dime or quarter to keep speed on the field (make sure you hot route contain your ends in the quarters if they are not already). Show blitz and pinch your line by pressing L1 then down. You want to pinch your line like this to prevent the FB dive and cutbacks by the Qb. Run some type of man coverage and control your FS. Set your Gameplan for option defense to conservative so that your D concentrates on the pitch man (not the Qb). Your d should handle the backs and you should concentrate on attacking the Qb's pitch arm to make the tackle. It is important to not get out flanked, read the pitch man at the start of the play and run as fast as you can playside to turn the play to the inside. If your opponenet gets some bigs gains don't be discouraged, all you need is a big stop on first and second down and they are screwed on 3rd and long.

  7. Do you play aggressive for offense and D?

    ReplyDelete
  8. On offense I use conservative catch and everything else is normal. For defense I use aggressive big hits and dline jump snap at all times. Depending on the Defense I call I will switch up aggressive zone coverage or normal zone coverage. I will usually put aggressive on for a man coverage, and normal for a zone. I also use conservative option and user the outside pitch hand of the QB. Don't use any aggressive offensive stuff, it is not worth it. For defense only use aggressive strip if you are down, I use aggressive pick whenever I'm fellin' it, but this feature has a lot of potential to piss you off, it makes your Db's miss a whole of passes that should have been broken up. My philosophy 95% of the time is to use normal picks, it is not worth giving up the big play. When blitzing I like to switch it up between aggressive zone and normal zone, depending on down and distance.

  10. If you could pick one play, what do you think is the most effective pass play that you have used?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Of effective pass plays that I use, I would have to say that PA verticals out of spread, or PA verticals out of trips, are my two go to pass plays. Both of these plays can be found in the Florida playbook (the playbook I use). They work very well against almost any coverage, especially against cover 3 or cover 2. In the spread formation make sure to put your back towards the boundary (the short side of the field) and in Trips put the 3 receivers to the wide side of the field. Watch the safeties and look to hit the inside WR seam routes against cover 3. In cover 2 look at the seams first, then look at the outside WR streaks. These throws will be made quickly, anticipation of defender movement is key. If the backers drop deep, dump it to the back for a 6 yard gain. The trips play is better against man, but can also be very effective against cover 2 or 3. Put your fastest WR as the number 3 WR on the trips side, look to hit him right when he breaks. Go into practice mode and run these plays over and over against multiple defenses, get your timing down and you will see the effectiveness of these plays. Remember in cover 3, there are 3 deep defenders, in cover 2 there are only 2. The defense cannot cover 4 deep routes with 2 or 3 deep defenders. If you make the throw on time to the right WR, you should be money. I like this play because it forces the defense to play the pass with dime or quarter coverages, thus opening up the run game. Make sure to master these plays against the CPU before trying it out online.

  12. As for onside kicks, I have to say I am not to familiar because I rarely need to use them. Try placing the cursor in the middle of the upper left hand quarter of the football. Release your kick at about 66 to 75 percent on the power gauge. Your kick, done properly should go directly towards the the TE on the front row of the return team. 95% of the time the ball will knock right off his hands and then it is free game. Try it out, see what happens.

  13. I do Quarter D a lot and I will put my Defensive ends in contain and most of the time they just stand there and do not pressure the Qb. How to you make them run and sack the QB instead of standing and waiting for the QB to move out of the pocket? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hey Alex sorry it took so long to hit you back, if a qb just stands in the very middle of the pocket and never moves to the left or right, most of the time the DE's will just stand there and not pressure the QB. The goal is to get the QB to move somehow, I like to do this by sending a safety off the edge, or controlling one DE and speed rushing outside the tackle. There are a few other things I like to do to ensure a pass rush out of quarters contain defenses. Make sure you pinch your line, play the pass (LT then UP), and switch it up on your opponent, try blitzing one end and containing the other, or blitz both of them. My favorite defense to run in this game is "double z" out of quarters. Pinch your line, show blitz (Y then LEFT), blitz the backside safety that was originally doubling the WR, and hot route contain the DE opposite the blitzing safety. I like to user control the blitzing safety and try to sack the QB or force him into the containing DE.

  15. i played u what was that nickel play that you ran that was an effective blitz (xSnitcheSx)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was runnning nickel strong cloud zone, I have been running this blitz since 2008. Blitz the nickelback on the strong side, on the weak side drop the DT to a hook zone, put your weakside LB in a buzz zone, and contain your weakside DE. I like to user blitz the nickel, let me know what you think

  17. Hey Craw recently I have had a lot of people running the Ace Big speed option against me, how do you stop this play?

    ReplyDelete
  18. hey man, we have a mutual aquaintance in "Punt". Do you ever adjust the A.I. I have heard people set their difficulty level on the easiest and just adjust the AI. There are definite differences from the previous years, some are frustrating. What are your thoughts on the AI adjustment? btw...if I ever get a decent enough internet connection, i'd love to play you sometime. Good luck with UNI this weekend!

  22. Hey craw, lately ive been playing one of my friends who non stop uses the double short slant routes of of shotgun with alabama. Julio Jones catches it every time. how can i stop that short slant?

    ReplyDelete
  23. put a safety in the hook zone where he is completing the slant, key that receiver also.

  24. My secret defense is only good on like 2nd and 3rd and medium/long if I think you are passing.

  25. craw, what do you do if you face an opponet who runs out of a goalline or i formation. they run the ball up the gut and off tackle mostly (25 to 30 times a game). when you stack the box they go to this quick slant play to the slot guy. if you compensate for the slot, he guts you with the run and vice versa. any suggestion to a defense that can attack the run and cover that slant? also, it was suggested to me to run aggressive zone as well. what you think? thanks

  26. Craw, I play a very similar defense as you, the one thing giving me problems is the double seem routes. I either play as the MLB or FS and cover the whole but I can only cover 1 guy and he'll just hit the other one, any suggestions?

  27. Craw, can you talk about the 3-2-6 defense, and what plays you like in it, and why? thx
